‘Night of Nature, Art & Wine’ Gala Auction

The Nature Conservancy’s Gala Auction dinner on 16 November 2013 successfully raised over HK$25 million for the environment.

Art pieces from renowned artists and fine wines from leading wineries was auctioned, alongside unique experiences and collectibles, in support of TNC’s mission to protect the environment. The proceeds will benefit TNC’s Asia Pacific programs.

Jointly-sponsored by Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Bank Julius Baer, with auction partner Sotheby’s, the Gala Auction was held at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong and featured art pieces from celebrated Chinese artists including Yue Minjun, Wallace Chan, Su Xinping, Xiang Jing, Xu Lei, Yin Zhaoyang, and Zhang Enli, as well as the renowned French artist Jean-Michel Othoniel. The auction also featured collectors’ editions of first-growth wines and champagne from some of the world’s leading wineries, including Château Cheval Blanc, Château d’Yquem, Château Haut-Brion, Château La Mission Haut-Brion, Harlan Estate, KRUG, Opus One and Sassicaia. The event also featured a silent auction which included luxury travel and dining experiences as well as unique jewellery and collectibles.

Mr Moses Tsang, Ms Jeannie Cho-Lee (Asian Palate) and Ms Lily Leung (Eastation) were the co-chairs of the Gala Auction Dinner, receiving more than 500 guests that included some of Hong Kong’s and the region’s most influential business people, society leaders and A-list celebrities including: Mr Michael Wong and Ms Karen Mok (both are amongst TNC’s new HK celebrity ambassadors). Along with Mr John Morgridge, Mr Tsang is co-chair of TNC’s Asia Pacific Council. TNC’s recently appointed chairman of the global board Mr  Craig McCaw, also attended and shared welcome remarks.
