Contests for Nature
From time to time, The Nature Conservancy in Hong Kong holds contests to give our Conservation Champions — and aspiring Conservation Champions — another way to get involved and share their love for nature. Examples of contests include photo and Facebook contests to win terrific prizes.

We aren’t running any contests at the moment, but please check back often and be sure to enter your email address to the left in order to stay informed of contests, special events, and conservation news and tips from TNC.
Celebrities for Nature
In July, TNC held a Facebook contest inviting people around Hong Kong to view videos of our Celebrity Ambassadors — Daniel Wu, Karen Mok, Michael Wong and Sandy Lam telling us why nature conservation is so important to them personally. We asked viewers to react by telling us what each of us can do to save the environment. The four best answers were selected and are shown below; each winner received an autographed TNC shirt from the TNC Celebrity Ambassadors!
“Every person is a conservation champion, let’s preserve the lands and waters together.”
Wong Chun Kit:
“Take public transport more often and support renewable energy. Plastic products, PET bottles and paper are all recyclable! Use less water, electricity and fuel.”
“Protecting the environment starts with each of us. Act as a role model so the next generation will also make an effort to protect the environment!”
“It begins with each of us, putting words into actions. Turn down unnecessary consumption, encourage your friends to eat more vegetarian food, join environmental groups’ volunteer activities.”

Last year, The Nature Conservancy hosted its first online photo competition in Hong Kong tied to the theme “Love the Earth; Photograph The Future”.
In September, entrants to the contest were asked to submit photos of the most beautiful natural scenes in Hong Kong — scenes that they want to preserve for themselves and future generations.
From these submissions, the best 25 photos were selected by a Judging Panel and then exhibited to the public at the One International Finance Centre and Fashion Walk venues during October and November 2013 as well as online so the public could vote for their favorite photo.
The two winners chosen in this contest, one by the public and another by the judging panel itself, were:
Chan Sze Tung’s winning photo which you can see above shows that the starry sky has never disappeared; it is only hiding behind the neon lights. By reducing unnecessary lighting, we can see more starlight (taken in Po Toi).
Cheung Kai Wan’s winning photo is titled “Gathering” and shows people sitting on the grassland chatting while enjoying the sunset. This is what we treasure, and we hope the next generation can also continue to enjoy this kind of special moment (taken in Grass Island).
Please join us in congratulating both winners who received a round trip business class ticket sponsored by Dragonair from Hong Kong to the natural haven of Kunming, Yunnan, the pilot site of TNC’s China Program. Read more about TNC’s work in China.
